Can't copy and paste

Howdy.
Its too much trouble to type my computer specs so here's a screenshot of My Computer > Properties:

I'm running AVG Free anti virus, version 7.1, and was running ZoneAlarm Personal, version 6.5 until last night.
Everything was fine yesterday but today when I turned my computer on, something seems to have seriously gone wrong:

• I can't cut, copy or paste text or images
• I can't cut, copy or paste files from one folder to another
• I can't drag and drop files
• Some of the programs I use reported an error with their configuration (which is stored in the registry)

Other things that went wrong:


- The zonealrm firewall icon disappeared from the taskbar. I tried uninstalling and re-installing several times but it wouldn't work.
- I got an error message saying "svchost.exe" has generated errors and needs to be closed.
- I get the following error message when I try to run windows media player:

This has never occured before, besides its not like my computer is totally frozen. Its running fine except these annoyances.

Has anyone got any idea of what could be wrong? My anti-virus is updated and I tried scanning but it didn't find anything. I can post a hijackthis log if needed (I can't copy and paste, so i'll have to upload it here or to my site and give you a link)

 

I just tried to download and install another firewall. I got this error:

Anyone? this is really annoying

 

LMAO.. sorry people, it appears I actually was in the safe mode. I restarted and things seem to be working again
