Hi.. I need your help.. I'm having problem with copying files into my removable disks (microSD and SD).. Transferring files FROM the removable disks is working fine but transferring TO them is somehow problematic..

    I'm using windows 7 ultimate on a core2duo with 1GB RAM

copying small number of files is working fine.. but when I tried to copy around 22 files, the transfer stuck at 7 files remaining.. By now, it has been half an hour since it's stuck.. (I'm transferring 22 files with total size of 1.15mb).. I have also tried to transfer other files..

I've tried transferring different kind of files using card reader and data cable from my cellphone.. I've also tried to use VirtualBox (running windows XP) to transfer the files.. all of them are not working..

    Please help me..

    Thanks in advance,

    Dede

What size files? I believe sd cards are formatted FAT32 so the file size limit is under 4GB.
Are you positive the card has room for the 22 files you tried to copy?
I generally do not copy a large numbers of files at a time so I've never run into this problem with my 2 micro sdhc cards (2GB abd 4GB size) and my five sdhc cards(4GB and 8GB size).

    Hi DeDe,

Just a thought: Are you copying to the Root Folder (directory) of the drive? The root directory of any drive is of fixed size so will only hold a certain number of files . Number is variable as long names take up more space. Sub-directories of the Root are merely files and are capable of almost an infinite number of files as long as there is room on the drive. Try it using a sub-folder. Maybe?

    Good Luck, Jim

Thanks for your reply, plodr :) The size was around 30-150kb each.. and I had formatted all those cards right before I tried to transfer the files.. so the cards were empty.. I have also tried scan and fix the removable disks..

Thanks for your reply, Jim.. :) I tried both copying to the root and to a folder.. but none of them worked..

    Hi again Dede,

If you had a power supply problem you would have a lot more trouble than copying files but of course any thing can happen. My old buddy used to say "Electronics is capable of 1,000,000 errors per milisecond.

    Luck, Jim

found the culprit.. I have a webcam connected to one of the USB Port.. I removed it and everything went well.. I guess it is power problem..

Thanks for everyone's help.. I really appreciate your efforts to help me.. :)

    Cheers!
