cant defrag?

hi ,i installed a program called disckeeper to defrag wasnt that impressed with that so i uninstalled ....now when i click on my normal defrag it wont work i get no error messages either can someone help??

 

It could be the DCOMLAUNCH service:

1. Click Start > Run and type Services.msc

2. Double-click DCOM Server Process Launcher

3. Set its startup type to Automatic

4. Restart and try Disk Defragmenter.

just done what you said in the comand prompt....also went into safeboot and tried there....still not working i click on Analyse and defrag and as i click it just flickers no response?

 

In your Administrative Tools go to Services.

Scroll through and see if you can find anything relating to Diskeeper.

I seem to remember something about Diskeeper leaving behind some services even after you uninstall.

If you find any Disable and remove them and run through what Matacumbie has posted.

 

yessssssssssss thankyou sorted i didnt read the bottom of Matacumbie text about below:

Using Windows Explorer browse to your windows\inf folder.
In there you will find a file called dfrg.inf right click this file, and select Install.
