First, I would like to say thanx for creating this site. I just registered and it's a great forum.

Over a week ago, I opened Kazzaa and got a virus from altnet and now have several infections. I ran Ad-Aware SE Personal but nothing happened. I downloaded Spyware Doctor and although it deleted the Altnet file there are still popups and my computer is still running slow. Is there something that i'm not doing? Please help.

    Thanx in advance.

    H Kllydkelly!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I'm sorry your computer's not well. Please go through the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST and attach the requested logs when you finish. Note those which are specific for your operating system.

Sorry it took so long to respond.

I used VundoFix and it deleted all the viruses but I mistakenly downloaded an activex file that was actually a virus. Now my homepage is changed and being rerouted. Pop ups are coming up also. Is their anyway you can help me?

    Hi kellydelly,

It's possible that the Vundo wasn't all the way gone. I need to see the logs you got when you ran the READ & RUN ME. It would be a good idea for you to run CCleaner again and then run Combofix, AVG Antispyware and the MGTools.

    1) CCleaner should be on your desktop. Double click on the icon to open it and leave it at the window where it opens up. In the lower right-hand corner you'll see a button "Run Cleaner". Click on that and then say yes to the warning it gives you. Allow it to run until the Run Cleaner button turns active again. That means it's finished. Just close the window.

    2) Combofix should also be on your desktop. Please go back to the READ & RUN ME FIRST and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Choose the instructions for your operating system and then just go ahead and run Combofix and AVG Antispyware. Make sure AVG Antispyware fixes everything it finds.

    3) After that, go to C:\MGTools which should already be installed. Open the MGTools folder and find the program called GetLogs.bat. Double click on that and allow it to run all the way through until it gives you the message to hit any key to close the window. Then come back here to attach your logs

    4) To find the logs from the GetLogs.bat, when you Post Reply to this message, then go down to the Manage Attachments button and browse to your C drive and look over on the right side down among the files for the superman icon. Just above that, you should see a zip file called MGlogs.zip. Upload that and have it attached with your next reply. Also upload the logs for Combofix and if there is one, the one for AVG Antispyware. Sometimes it makes a log and sometimes it doesn't.

None of the above takes too long. You should have all these things installed already. If you have the newer form of Vundo, it's important that we see your logs right away. I will be gone for several days and will ask someone to look at your logs and help you.

If you have any quesitons, just ask.
