Ok, I was trying to get this hamachi thing set up. It was working fine yesterday. For some reason today I was able to ping my friends but they couldn't ping me, nor could we play games together.

Anyway, I decided to reinstall it. First I uninstalled it. Then I installed it again. Once it was reinstalled, it wouldn't even connect to hamachi period. Figure I would try a reboot. I went to restart, and nothing happened. I tried again with same results. So I just turned it off by pushing in the power button

Now when I turn on my computer, I select a profile to log in with. The start up programs start up, but I can't do a single thing. If I try to open a program, I get the little hour glass like its doing something, but then nothing. I can't even open up volume controls. If I hit ctrl-alt-delete not even that comes up. Further, I can't turn off my computer or log off without pushing in the power button.

What the heck am I to do?!

also like to add that when I turn it on, it takes a huge amount of time for the start up programs to start.

and apparently, when I try to run something it will run, but even the simplest things like minesweeper take 15-20 mins to come up

If you are reluctant to go through the malware link ...then atleast do this:
    Panda online active scan

None of these scans are finding anything, adaware and spybot picked up a couple things, but still cant do anything. Alot of the stuff the link wants me to do requires me to be in normal boot, but I can't do anything in normal boot. What do you suggest?

Ok, I believe I have discovered what the problem here is somewhat. svchost.exe is causing my comp to run at 100% cpu usage. if I end this process everything returns to normal. But it comes back up everytime I restart and I have to wait 30 mins for the task manager to finally come up so I can end this process. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

svchost.exe is a required system component. you can not stop it. You have most likley got a virus or malware problem that is effecting service host. Post in the malware section if you haven't already
