Can't Even Run HJT - HELP!

Here's the deal.
I am trying to do all the required steps prior to running HJT.
The Trend Micro's scan won't run because it says my security settings won't allow Activex to run.
I followed Trend Micro's instructions re resetting the security settings. (I swear I followed them to a tee).
I still get the can't run because of Activex warning... so I tried their suggestion of using the 30 day trial of PC-Cillin or whatever it's called.
When installing that I got a message that I had to uninstall Symantec before installing their program.
Since the next step after running PC-Cillin is to run Symantec do I really need to take it off and put it back on again?
With my skills that sounds like a potential disaster waiting to happen.
Is it time to pay someone to fix this?

I would not uninstall your full blown Symantec antivirus application just to try PC-Cillin. The online scan that we refer to is not the same thing as your full blown Symantec antivirus application. They are totally independent of each other. Sometimes the online scanners find things the full application does not because they are updated more frequently. Also note: we did not say to run PC-Cillin either. Skip the TrendMicro scan and do the Symantec online scan. If you cannot run it, skip it and continue. When you come back make sure you indicated what you could run and what you could not run and what the reasons were.
