Can't find a file.

I recently uninstalled Yadis, a backup program, and it has left behind a huge file that I can't get at to delete. I know what it's called "$Recycle.Bin" but none of my searches have turned it up. I have turned on 'Show hidden files and folders' but still no luck. I know it's there because my normal backup program shows it when a backup takes place of the C: drive and it takes minutes to get past it so it's gigabytes in size. Can anyone help with locating this file?

 

I can help you find it, but I'm not 100% certain that you actually want to remove it.

On my system, the recycler files/folders are not just hidden, but also protected operating system files. The option to show these is just a couple below the option to show hidden files and folders. It sounds like you know how to get there.

You should be able to find these at the root of any drive you have. I have them right on my C: and D: drives.

Again, make certain that these are files associated with your program. To me, they sound more like the files for your recycle bin, which you DO NOT want to remove.

You might try running CCleaner to clean files out of the recycle bin, and save yourself some room.

Also, you can right-click on your Recycle Bin, select 'Properties' and adjust the slider to specify how much room they should take.

Thanks for your help. I have found the $ file now and it contains all the files from a previous C: drive backup that I no longer want. I obviously don't want to delete the folder itself so I will be making a start on deleting the individual folders and files.
