Any IDE HD would do but I wouldn't spend too much because the MB might only last another year or so. I haven't had any MB last 10 years, although some people still have 10 year old machines but they are on the edge from my experience.

I think you might overpay if you try to get the exact same model HD. You have to figure someone had to warehouse that drive for ten years which adds to the price. With computer equipment newer is often cheaper. So an 80 or 120gb or even larger IDE drive may very likely be less money than a 40gb and will work fine.
