cant get 2 windows updates to install (help)

im working on getting alot of bugs gone from this pc and ive done all the windows updates on it but it wont do the last two,it was way out of date when i got it it didnt even have sp2 on it,all went well till i got to the last 2 im guessing its the last two that it needs for now its not showing that it needs anyothers they are 1)update for windows xp (kb887742)and 2)security update for windows messenger (kb887472) ive tryed to search the web for a fix but havent been able to find any ,i can turn off the auto updates to get the icon to go away but id like to fix it if possible......hopefully someone will be able to help me get them installed so i can keep the auto updates on

ok i tryed to run them from the site u encluded and i got this error message and i dont know what to change the file location too when it ask me to change the flie source,heres the error mess...

copy error:

set cannot copy the files update_sp2qfe.inf

ensure that the location below is correct,or change it and insert 'windows xp hotfix source files' in the drive u specify.

copy files from c:\4393e9cf2fb6d7395b80faef\update

both of the updates r doing this where it says c:\4393e9cf2fb6d7395b80faef\update thats where it lets me change the folder for the stuff thats being updated i guess so im lost again

ok i hope someone can help me with this its driving me crazy

 

well i am logged in as myself with admin right ,there only one icon on there when windows strats up,the only way i see more is if i go to safe mode then theres a admin there but that wouldnt help since i cant get online in safe mode...right?i do have spybot but its not running at the time i try to do the updates,i do have a firewall on the only firewall i have is the windows firewall and i turned it off so i could play golf games over the internet with other ppl...ill try to turn off the av (is that the virus program)?....thanks

 

Actually, there's a safe mode with networking option that should allow you to.

How certain are you of this? The tea timer protection Halo is speaking about should run automatically at startup, without your interaction. If you were to hit windows key + r (or click start --> run), type 'msconfig' (without the quotes) and press enter (or click ok), and select the startup tab, do you see anything spybot related on the list that's displayed?

 

well im in there looking (msconfig) and i dont see anything related to spybot,i will uninstall it and see if this might be my problem but i really dont think so.and i did start up in safe mode with networking but it didnt connect to the internet,maybe im not doing it right.

i dont usnderstand what program u want me to try and run..sorry i see that u want me to try and do the updates,i need some more info before i try to do anything

 

oh ok yes i did go to the site and dled them to the desktop and thats what ive been working with too the main dl ,and ill try the auto update site too to see it it works and ive also tryed to do them in safe mode,nothing seemd to help..yes i removed spybot,no luck there and ive turned off the vp program too still no luck.hummm so what am i supposed to do with the step 11 i mean how do i run it from normal mode or safe mode ?
