How do you get the HTML turned on to post? I've looked in User Control Panel and what not, but down at the bottom it says

    vB code is On
    Smilies are On
    code is On
    HTML code is Off

    Anyone? Anyone?

In other words, it can't be turned on? I thought I had it on at one point? All I know is, I like to see the changes I make right away without having to preview, and it won't do it.

Already tried that. :) But Cindy overheard, and, well, I logged off early that night! :D

I think it's the Vb code, or something.

Say, for example, I write the word "Text" Then I want to add bold, italics, and make it bigger or smaller. I used to highlight the word, and then add whatever changes, and then see the results. Now, as I'm writing it shows stuff like this:

    [IText[/SIZE[/I][/B

Can someone change this for me? I don't want to see a bunch of code.

Note: The above code is incorrect, I posted it that way in order to show it, otherwise, it would only have posted the word Text in Bold Italics size 4. :)

Additional note: And now, it looks like my smileys aren't appearing. What's going on?

Okay, what browser are you using?

There is a setting on the board... go to User CP, Edit Options... right down the bottom there should be a drop down combo box... select Enhanced WYSIWYG editor... And there you go :D

    Morning, Goldy!

I'm using Firefox, I'm new to it, so that may be the problem. I already selected enhanced, so that's why this is so frustrating.

    Morning yerself :)

Hmmm.... lemme think... I've had problems with the enhanced editor myself in FF, you might have to live with it I'm afraid :(

Ok, after reading a bit of german, looks like there is a way around it.

    go to about:config.

Right click, and create the following "string" values.

    Name: capability.policy.policynames
    Value: allowclipboard

    Name: capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites
    Value: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/

    Name: capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy
    Value: allAccess

    Name: capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste
    Value: allAccess

Restart the browser, and there you go. Apparently.

Have to say that didn't work awfully well for me. Hmmmm.....

Hmm, what you COULD do is change the user agent string. I have a feeling its not loading it in FF because it thinks it can't

    type about:config

Make a new string value, general.useragent.override, and give it the value of

    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Q312460)

There, it will think that your browser is IE 6. Be warned, however, this might mean some sites will screw up. If you ever want to change back, just change it to

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040913 Firefox/0.10.1

    :)

    No no, don't do that!!

I just tested it and I broke my browser!

Humzers. Well, I'd recomend against overriding the user agent string, as it stopped Java working and I couldn't start my browser. I had to fiddle around with the profile .js files to make it work again. Bleh.

Goldy, thanks for trying all this stuff. I'm not having any problems myself, and we're on the same computer and I assume that we've got the same settings (unless Eric went into his options and started changing things around, but I don't think he did that) :)

Tried a few things just to make sure that it really does work for me!

Do you both have different users? If so, you could copy the user.js and the prefs.js files from Cindy's profile to Eric's (referring to everyone in the third person, argh who am I talking to?!? :p)

Actually, Cindy's does the same thing. She thought I was talking about after it posted. I just hate looking at all the code. I'd rather see the changes immediately. I guess it has nothing to do with html code at the bottom. :(

    Kodo? Timmay? HELP!! :(
