Howdy:wave well sir ... I lost my internet connection. I'm not getting any lights from my ethernet outlet on the computer ... at first just the green light would not show ... now both the green and amber light don't light up. It's an on board ethernet, and the device manager says the device is working properly.

What am I missing here?:confused This is the system I am having the problem with. The OS is XP Pro 32 bit.

Do you have another PC/Laptop/Smartphone that you can plug your ethernet cable into? Or a friend's laptop perhaps?
This will check whether you have any internet, or not, before buying a replacement internal pci ethernet card.

:wave I should have mention that there is another computer hooked up and I have no problems ... sounds like the ethernet on the mobo has gone out. I have a device that is suppose to sub as an ethernet connection, it came with software, but I could not get it to work with XP:cry I saw post from others that say the same.:(

Is there a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager when this USB ethernet device it connected?

Edit: When connecting this USB ethernet adapter, make sure your onboard NIC card is disabled in BIOS.

If there is, can you provide the Vendor and Device ID as shown? Right click and select properties. Then under the details tab provide the info as shown.

:wave Well sir ... this is most strange. I did disable the on board lan and I did have a question mark for the device, then I installed the driver so now the device manager is stating the adapater is working properly, but just like the on board lan ... I get no lights in the device and I know I should. This is most strange.:confused I just don't get it. :cry Do any of you?

This is what I found in the id details under the network adapter in the device manager ...
USB\VID_OFE6&PID_9700\5&2D11F83F&0&1 It was the only information under that tab.
