    computer: pavilion A6040n
    Radeon R7 240 graphics card
Note: the graphics card is Pci-e 3.0 16x in a Pci-e 16x slot on the motherboard

I have the computer connected to a Avera 43AER20 TV through the VGA port.

Once the computer shuts off the signal to the screen, which happens after 15 minutes of inactivity, I can't get the picture to come back, when I press on the mouse or keyboard. I tried with a traditional monitor and it works fine.

I found a way to get the picture to come up. When I don't get the picture that I should, I connected the TV to the HDMI port. That HDMI port then outputs "second monitor"output to the TV. In other words, it treats the HDMI as a second monitor and shows the desktop without the shortcuts and the recycling bin. From there, I change the TV, which is plugged into the HDMI port, to be the primary display. Obviously, this is an overly complicated process just to wake the computer up. But, maybe it sheds some light on the issue (I don't know how but maybe a light bulb goes on for someone).
