Cant get quicktime

Need some help please if anybody able .
As i say new to your site so may already have been covered elsewhere and I've not seen it.

I removed quicktime off my computer a while ago because it was causing a "TRAY APP"(Windows installer) fault everytime on startup and the only way to stop this was to remove it .
well everything seems to have settled down ok now but i went to use my olympus camedia editing programe the other day and a message flashed up
"requires quicktime four or higher to be loaded"
So i went to the apple site and tried to download the freebie (currentlyQuicktime 7) and i have also tried loading it down from this site .
I manage to get it onto the computer as a download but when i try to initiate a setup it gets so far (3/4 installed)freezes and then gives this message.

" Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file
c:\windows\installer\quicktime.msi "

Any help sorting this out would be greatfully received

I'm running windows xp as my os on an Evesham Axis 2400 at the moment but i cant run my photo suite applications without qUICKTIME as it seems to be part of the running process and needed. :cool

I would totally remove Quicktime thru Add/Remove, empty your temp files and then run the Installer CleanUp Utility.

Then restart, download and try to install Quicktime again.

The TRAY APP issue sounds more like a HP printer thing.

You ran the Cleanup Utility for quicktime?

Still getting the Error 1316 when you try to install quicktime?

Ran zbdees alternative suggestion as well .Thnku zd

Both progs download ok but wont run

Quicktime Prog after cleanup ran still showed in add and remove before reinstalling from apple !!(Quicktime!!! cant get it out of add or remove )
Try press remove
Message comes up
uninstall
"the following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file

c:\WINDOWS\system32|Quicktime|Uninstall.log. "

If i look in Control panel i see a seperate entry for quicktime (A seperate logo- not in add or remove )If I click on this i get

RUN DLL

"An exception occurred while trying to run "c:\WINDOWS\system 32 \shell32.dll,Control_Run DLL "c\WINDOWS\system32\QuickTime .cpl",QuickTime"confused
