Cant get rid of malware (i think)

    No, on the first screen were you have the option to either install xp or go to the recovery console, you hit install xp. It will then find your precious installation and ask if you want to install or repair ( R ). This is where you want to repair, as it should then reload windows system files and keep your previous set up.

    ok did that now it says

    to set up windows xp on the selected item press enter

    to create a partition in the unpartitoned space press c

    to delete the selected partition press d

    38155 MB Disk0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]

    C: partition1 [NTFS] 38146 MB {11211 MB free}
    Unpartiononed space 8MB

    ENTER=INSTALL D+ DELETE PARTITION f3 QUIT

    It should have already loaded a bunch of files, right? If so, quit and see if it will boot now to windows.

    dont think it loaded files. the line C: partition etc is highlighted and if I press
    enter it says that you chose to install windows xp on a partition that contains another operating system and then a warning. Do i continue or press f3 to quit

    I am uncertain at this point. If you choose to install, given it has found your previous install, it may then ask if you want to repair it. You can always power off the computer if it looks like it will not do a repair.

    Hiya just wanted to say I ran the toshiba product recovery in the end. I just couldnt get it going. But I really appreciate all the time and effort that was put in answering my never ending questions. cheers
