    Hi,

    Ive had a problem for 3 days. I seem to have a multiple trojans infecting my laptop. Its a Win 7 AMD 64 bit machine. It started with a file search through firefox and a java error stopped scripts running and then just froze the entire browser when the infection happened. Ive ran various software and it seemed firefox was fixed upon reinstall but then....

    Now the laptop is extremely sluggish on boot. Wireless network connection to router is dodgy and the whole thing stays sluggish then seems to pick up to normal speed after awhile.

    Ive uninstalled firefox, there was two firefox.exe processes running in the task manager, since then there is now two iexplorer.exe that seem to have ''replaced'' the firefox ones?

    the malware guide removal thread i have followed to the best i can. all logs are attached.

    please help,

    thanks.

    We still need you to attach these logs:
    ComboFix
    RootRepeal ( if it runs. )
    C:\MGLogs.zip from running the C:\MGTools.exe

    NVM ....you were attaching while I was typing. Give me a few minutes to check your logs and I will get back with you.

    I see that TDSSKiller was run and supposedly fixed an MBR infection. We need to be sure it is fixed, so please do the following:
    Download MBRCheck to your desktop

    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...

    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:

    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message.

    Also, tell me what these are:
    c:\program files (x86)\aunlgmbe
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Burrrn

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\users\Francis\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\IBFXQPKU.EXE

    Good, that log showed that your MBR is clean. What malware issues are you still having, if any?

    You also need to tell me what those two program files are. ;)

    c:\program files (x86)\aunlgmbe <<< i dont know what this is

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Burrrn <<<< program for burning audio cds.

    ill add that prior to my first run with the 4 pieces of software ran (SAS, MB, COMBOFIX and MG) alot of my software was detected as infected by AVG 2011 (which ive since uninstalled/deleted) although initially it seemed to have fixed the issues its since reverted back to the problems im having now.

    If you don't know what that is, delete it. Did you also delete:
    c:\users\Francis\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\IBFXQPKU.EXE ?
    Are your issues just the sluggishness? That can be caused by many things, not necessarily malware. Please be specific.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    ''Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\users\Francis\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\IBFXQPKU.EXE''

    It wont let me delete this because iexplore.exe is resident (x2) in my processes list in task manager (ive never loaded internet explorer on boot btw these are there EVERY time the laptop fires up)

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    c:\users\Francis\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\IBFXQPKU.EXE

    Folder::
    c:\program files (x86)\aunlgmbe

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    If it asks you to overide the previous file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    You run the chance of infecting the desktop by using a USB flash drive. Let's now make sure it is not infected:

    Insert your flash drive before you begin. Hold down the Shift key when inserting the flash drive until Windows detects it to bypass the autorun feature. This will keep the autorun.inf from executing automatically.

    Please have all your removable storage devices ready for disinfection.

    Download Flash Disinfector by sUBs and save it to your desktop.

    * Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it.
    * Your desktop and icons may disappear. This is normal.
    * It will do a cleanup of removable storage devices, and write a protected Autorun.inf file to help prevent re-infection.
    * Follow any prompts that may appear.
    * The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
    * Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
    * There will be no GUI interface or log file produced.
    * Reboot your computer when done.

    Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.

    okeeeey,

    well i tried running the laptop, everything seems to be ok now. ive followed the protection steps which are as follows.

    installed spywareblaster

    installed spyboy with teatimer disabled.

    installed & payed for superantispyware.

    installed avast

    installed comodo.

    only issue with laptop is now its extremely sluggish on startup, the problem seems to be with the wireless connection, everytime i boot i have to troubleshoot/repair the connection for wireless to work. i think its the wlan service not loading properly but i cant find a fix. any advice or help would be apprieciated.

    thanks for helping with the malware, awesome theres guys like u online to help :)

    You should post in the networking forum for issues with your wireless. As far as startups, you may want to use:
    Startup_CPL

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
