I've scanned my computer with updated definition lists from AVG AntiVirus, Ad-Aware, SpyBot, Spy Doctor, Spy Sweeper and XoftSpy. But I still get these Internet Explorer popups! I don't even use IE, I use Opera.

Do I analyze the popups themselves somehow, ...

    What do I do?

Welcome to MajorGeeks.com, please follow the steps below:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

I've run through the entire tutorial (great ideas, btw) and the popups still keep on coming. I've attached my HijackThis log, but I can't see anything in there that looks suspicious. I did find something when I ran Security Task Manager. Here the link to the screenshot:

I've tried to quarantine it, but it keeps running again. It also usually has another similar looking entry right next to it.

See this thread on Running SpySweeper...I see you have SS installed already. If you don't have this version update and then get the updated definitions. If you do have this new version make sure your scan settings are as requested in the thread above.
