I must be getting really stupid. Reinstalled the OS on a Milwaukee PC machine. American Megatrend Baby Screamer MB. Go to their website for the drivers, can't find them, only the manuals? Driving me nuts. I just need the sound drivers! What the H____ am I missing? Home page - support - technical support (search for drivers...), drop down motherboard, baby screamer - submit - no driver downloads!
Need the audio drivers, XP SP3.
Spent over an hour screwing around with this, where is it??

What motherboard? What website? A little more info is needed. We can't read minds or see your computer.

At the bottom of this page are drivers
    http://milwaukeepc.com/Support.asp
They only had two sound driver choices: C-Media which gives me a 404 error mostly in Chinese and Creative which sends me off to the Creative site

    Good luck.

When I get a computer, I use a program to collect all the drivers and burn them to a CD.
I actually do it in two batches: one, all drivers, two all non-MS drivers. I figure the non-MS will be the ones I need.

brandypeppy, read my thread 24/1/2010, good for all windows O/Systems, you just have to do things in the correct order, clean install first then audio drivers and any other programs as well, THEN turn on automatic updates, trust me it works, i was just about pulling my hair out, so frustrating, sp3 should always come last, a re-install for xp home is a four hour task for me considering the amount of programs i run,

Unfortunately, so far nothing has worked. The Mil PC website is a waste of time. I installed RealTek audio driver from MG but it didn't work, uninstalled. I tried Driver Detective program but after they tell you you are missing drivers, they want $$$ to go further.
HOW can I tell what audio drivers I need and where can I get them. Should be a simple thing.
Is there freeware out there that can detect this for me?

PC Wizard is a very useful system tool for detailed information about your motherboard and drivers , you will find if you Google it.

    Hi Brandyp

Need the a summary or the full system scan in Everest of your PCs specs, do the below so we can see what you have as there are a couple of AMI Baby Screamer Mobos and wish to see what they have used as they are not the biggest of the mobo makers.

TBH apps for finding drivers are not that good, depending on how the OEM designed and sourced the hardware chips and specified the drivers, these could be vastly different to what these driver finder apps find, they generally just give you generic drivers, which is why many folk have issues with Audio as they try to update when its not needed.

Also what items in Device Manager have yellow ! marks on them?

Try the following and the motherboard is a ASRock P4i45GV

from this list HERE grab the INF driver ver:4.10.1012 and install and reboot, then install the C-Media audio driver ver:UDA041_build04L and reboot and test sound.

If that doesnt work then try this trick originally posted by Muskesnipe into fooling XP SP3 into thinking its SP2 and install the UAA Driver then the Audio again.

    Halo,
Many thanx, but I tried both methods, no sound even with speakers, not even with the regedit.
Any other ideas or am I at a dead end?

    Hi BP

TBH, I'm a bit now lost for a suggestion, may have other ideas but would need to see the PC in person if you know what I mean.

    Only suggestion I have at present is two fold;

    1. Uninstall the audio driver from Device Manager and then reboot and re-install the Chipset, and using the trick posted on the registry to get it to SP2, then install UAA and Audio again.

    2. Is the Windows disk you used an XP SP3 one? or did you update RTM, SP1, SP2 to SP3? I would if you can at min install XP SP2 then install Chipset, UAA and then Audio to see if that works, then install SP3.

Thanks Halo, I'll go give your suggestions a try. I installed XPSP2, then upgraded tp SP3. One of the wierd things, all of the sound devices were greyed out in the control panel before I followed your previous suggestions. Now they are all there and active and adjustable but no sound, not even with headphones.
I may have installed one driver too many so I'll take it all out and do it again.
