As you all will soon learn I'm new to this forum and have virtually no computer ability of than being able to infect it....My computer is definitely infected (all searches are re-directed, my Adaware cannot update or run, my Spyware Blaster won't work) I use Sympatico Security and Mozilla Firefox.
I started with the Read & Run Me first and can't get anywhere with computer cleaning. I can save the file SuperAnti-Spyware but cannot run it whether I change the name to SAS.exec or not. I'm blocked from downloading Malwarebytes Anti-malware because getting to the "store" malwarebytes.org has been dis-allowed. When I try to get rootrepeal it seems to exceed my bandwith......I did get MGTools and was able to run it (Ie: analyse.exec) and I have a log for that. This morning my screen went blue with a "serious error" message. The problem was with nv4_disp so the CPU was rebooted. I am able to, at least use the computer now. I have Windows XP SP2.......I don't know what other information is required. I would appreciate it if I could get some help from you. Otherwise I'll have to pack up this thing and bring it in.......Thanks in advance

    Hello, mckinnri

The below fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for issue(s) on this machine. Also, please do not install any other software while we are still working with you unless instructed. Once we have given you the all clean and final instructions you will be free to install what you want.

Comment: You are using an outdated version of Internet Explorer v6.00 SP3 which is a security risk.

    Step 1:
Please double-click the RootRepeal.exe previously downloaded.
    • Select File then Scan
    • On the Select Drives form select drive C by "ticking" the box for drive C and click OK
    • When the scan is complete - highlight each of the following file(s) (one at a time if more then one is listed) by left clicking it. Then use right mouse click and select the Wipe File option only for each file.
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSIVXcount
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSIVXdwutivamfgoopknybsuvlodheocsdkba.dll
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSIVXwysjywwsnahgmiqyfydnfdfudtavxbff.dll
      • C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\MSIVXeksljawagqshcpvxwqogexthxqhjbamp.sys
    • After Wiping all files, immediately reboot your pc!
After reboot, continue with the below.

    Step 2:
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Step 3:
Open CCleaner - select "Cleaner" > "Run Cleaner" <---use this function ONLY!

    Step 4:
Now see if you can run the other scanners { remember to use the latest file versions and their updated definition databases } --- SUPERAntiSpyware/Malwarebytes'/ComboFix.

    Step 5:
Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, use right click and select Run As Administrator). DO NOT repeat your error of re-naming one of the logs *IN* the MGlogs.zip --- attach the [FULL] MGlogs.zip unmodified!

Please attach the below logs to your next reply:
    • SASlog.txt
    • MBAMlog.
    • C:\combofix.txt
    • updated RRlog.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip

Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure and give a description of how things are working now!

    dr.m

    Hello, mckinnri

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

The only things I find are:
    (1) You have two real-time anti-spyware appls installed, Radialpoint Internet Security - a full pkg AV/AS/FW and IObit Security 360 Beta 2.2 and MUST remove one of them immediately! Let's leave your security suite alone and remove the other.

    Using ADD/Remove- uninstall:
    IObit Security 360 Beta 2.2

    Also uninstall:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 14

    (2) Now use the following link to update your Sun Java.
    Sun Java Runtime Environment

Your logs look good! If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double-click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
