Can't Highlight in Word or emails.

If you suspect Malware as the cause of this then follow the below guide and post much information as to whats happening and which applications are affected ( can you in Notepad, Wordpad and an IE webpage able to highlight text? ), and also attach all the reqested logs,

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

• Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
• Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
• Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

• After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

• When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
  • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
  • Bitdefender - from step 6
  • Panda Scan - from step 6
  • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
  • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
  • HijackThis

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

 

"Friggin Kiddin you" ~ Well no, I was as usual being DEADLY SERIOUS those steps have been designed for all users to follow, I've known many novices to computing that can easily follow thoses steps even grannies and grandpa's,
You did work out how to run Hijackthis, so the rest of those steps in the guide if taken step by step are no harder, BUT what your really saying is your too lazy to even attempt following those steps and wanted the QUICK FIX which sadly a Hijackthis log will not do.

If I didnt want to help people then I wouldnt have bothered to have been actively helping folk for near on 5yrs, but sadly with an attitude like yours I certainly wouldnt waste my valuable time on talking you through removing your problem. Sad really as if you put the effort in in following the guide which has helped many 100s of thousands of users with malware issues and attach the logs as requested then so be it.

 

Please refrain from making comments like this and your previous one. We help many hundreds of people each week and we do this for free and on our own personal time. We have established basic guidelines for providing this free support, and we need them to be followed. The charter/goal of this forum is to remove ALL malware. This is not a HijackThis log reading forum and as Halo point out, HijackThis is not a malware scanning/detection tool. HijackThis is the last step in our process for just that reason.
