can't install aventail 9 VPN on Vista 32-bit PC, help?

I am trying to install Aventail 9 VPN on my vista32 pc and cannot get past the group name lookup. Everytime I dial in to get my group name the connection times out. I cannot type in the name manually because if I use the install Wizard the group name bar is greyed out. If I go to the establish a network area in the control panel, it is not greyed out but will still not let me type the name in. The IT support person who tried to help me couldn't figure this out, so I'm hoping someone here knows the answer.

I have Symantec 2009's security suite and spyware blaster usually running, also Sandboxie. I've been turning Sy. and SB off before each try. Don't know how to turn off Sandboxie, but this problem started before I installed Sandboxie so I don't think it's the source or only source of the problem.

I have administrator rights on my PC, but I understand that sometimes you have to manually tell a program to run w/ rights and I don't know how to do this. Could this be the problem?:confused
