cant install spybot S&D

I'm going through the read & run me first but when i try to install spybot search & destroy it says it cannot connect to server and gives an ip address. i opened a new tap and entered the ipaddress and it takes me to the site for safernetworking.org the home of spybot.

Anyone know what would be stopping this i did remove mediatickets in add remove programs would it cause DOS to spybot site?

I have also had the samme problem with malwarebytes antimalware

i have downloaded the latest databases for both and run the scans but still cannot update them?

Yes it installed but wouldn't run with out updates.

i manged to install updates and run but neither program will update automatically.

this is a friends machine and was running extremely slow and i have found various malware but still not sure its clean.

should i post logs?

Thanks for the help but i discovered a corrupt norton internet security 2005 was causing the programs not to install. The licence had expired and the owner tried to remove rather than renew and the unistall had failed. After removing it manually including registry entries i was able to install and run all the read & runme first steps and the machine is now running fine.
