Cant Install Updates

I had some problems with malware and had them taken care of but I originally thought that they were preventing me from installing my windows xp updates however now it appears as if my operating system just wasn't authenticated. What/How do i take care of this?

 

i am no geek but the obvious question comes to mind;

is it a genuine copy of XP??

hah yea actually it is a genuine copy I just cant figure out how to authenticate it. I've been on the Microsoft website trying to figure it out with no luck.
