Can't move anything to my hard drive!

When ever I try and move anything to my hard drive, I keep getting this message,

Can anyone please help me out. I'm using a WD My Book Essentials

 

A little more info might be helpful: operating system/service pack #, USB compatibility between your computer and the external drive, file attributes for the ext. drive (is the My Book 'read-only'?), etc...

Did the file transfer process work before and quit, or is this the first time you've tried to transfer?

 

If I had to guess, I would say its because the Hard drive is Formatted as NTFS, which (at least the last time I used a mac, several years ago) macs have trouble writing to.

 

Well I recently just formatted it, and now all of sudden i can't move anything to it. It worked before but I don't know what's wrong

 

Doesn't the My Book come with some type of software that runs all the time? Did you get any instructions with the drive? Maybe that software is causing the problem.

What is the exact model number of My Book?

 

ok so heres what i happened i completely formatted it, and then i couldnt access it at all, so then i went to the Western Digital site and downloaded the WD FAT32 Formatter and so i used that to format the hard drive. after that everything seemed to work ok, but then when i use it on the mac i can't transfer anything over

 

its not the same problem, I solved that problem but this is a new one
