Can't move my Quicklaunch from taskbar to Desktop

I have always liked my Quicklaunch icons on top of my XP desktop. I used to be able to drag the Quicklaunch to my desktop then drag it on top of my screen. All of a sudden I am not able to do this anymore. The taskbar is unlocked and I can move the Quicklaunch across my taskbar, but I am not able to "detach" it and move it independently on my desktop like I used to. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? Is this a SP3 feature because it may have happened after I installed it, but not 100% sure about that. Could this be a registry setting that can be changed?

SP3 here, and it works for me. Are you grabbing it by the vertical array of dots separating it from your Start button?

 

gday blazmir if you want to try something that works just like the quick launch bar that comes with windows the new alienware theme manager has a objectdock that you can set at the top or bottom of your screen it loads on startup and you can add what ever shortcut to it. i use it now instead of the quick launch bar and the themes are heaps better than the xp theme's if you are interested you can get it from here " http://www.alienware.com/community/alienguise/theme-manager.aspx " there are 4 to choose from and they are free.

 

A work-around might be to right-click on it and create a shortcut on the desktop....
