Cant Open Tdsskiller

im going through the malware removal actions just now but I have hit a problem with tdsskiller. When I download it from any of the mirrors or authors site I am asked to save or open. I save it to my desktop but when I right click the shortcut there is no run option. there is an open option but there is no program associated with it. The desktop icon is just a blank sheet. Can I go to the next scan or do I need a fix for this issue first?

The laptop has mysearch.avg taking over browser searches in chrome and IE. Is this connected? How do I get rid of this?

Windows 7 home premium SP1. Acer aspire laptop. 2g ram

Keep going as stated in the READ & RUN ME FIRST which said

Do not repeat the steps if you face any problems. If something does not run, write down the problem to explain to us later but keep on going. Oh and AVG search is due to AVG antivirus having been installed. Do you still have AVG installed? You should be able to just change your default search engine too in your browsers.
