Can't remove *harddos AND NOBODY KNOWS THIS!! HELP!!

    c:\windows\config\harddos.exe rerun
    This is under the \runOnce


    I'm trying to remove it in Safe Mode and it automatically pops right back up. I've run CWshredder, Ad-aware, Spybot, and HijackThis.

    All in Normal, then in Safe Mode. System Restore is Turned off too.

    I normally don't get stumped and I am. I don't see anything on the Internet about this Harddos.

    Please help.

    Hi Ken,

    Sounds to me like you've got Stopguard/Virtumundo issues. Please check out the link below for similar cases and try Symantec's removal tool and see if it does the trick. Let me know if indeed this is that particular baddie and how you fare with the removal tool.
