I did a really dumb thing: I inserted the color cartridge into the right side, where it's supposed to be black. Before I realized my error, I removed and replaced it several times until I saw what the problem was. But now I can't remove it, even though I was able to several time. The lever comes down but the darn thing won't pull out. Everything seems to be lined up properly, so I don't know why it's stuck!
I've tried removing the other cartridge from the left side, no problem, but it doesn't help with the stuck cartridge. Neither does turning the printer off, waiting a moment, and turning it on again.
DO I NEED TO BUY ANOTHER PRINTER? :( WAAAGH!!!

Hopefully not. But what you may need to do is to apply a bit more elbow grease while crossing remaining fingers and toes in the hope nothing on the printer itself breaks.

Does the cartridge lock lever move freely?

Be sure to read you manual concerning removing the cartridges. I might start by unplugging the printer from the wall for a minute or two, then plugging it back in to reset any settings that may now be corrupt. Then, power it on and follow the instructions to remove the FINE cartridge.

    Good luck. Keep us posted.

    First, thank you for answering.
I unplugged it from the wall, as you said. The cartridge lock lever does move freely. But the little bar protruding from the top back of the cartridge shows that the cartridge has somehow gotten pushed to the left in back and it won't allow the cartridge to pass the guides in the printer. Yet I was able to slide this cartridge in and out several times earlier. I guess the last time I somehow skewed things.
Will I be electrocuted if I slide a nail file along the side of the cartridge to push the back of it to the right? Should I do it while the cartridges are in the loading dock, or while they're out in the rest of the printer to the left side? Is it worth paying to get it fixed. I can buy a used one for less than $60.

Update: I talked to a couple of repair shops, one suggested I unplug it and slide a table knife along the side to see if I could fix. He said that's what they'd do; with no guarantee it won't break. Didn't work, so I bought the one on ebay. But thank you again!

    Well, sorry it didn't work.

FTR, now you would not have been electrocute. Today's inkjet printers use an AC/DC transformer and operate on relatively low DC voltages - typically something between 24 and 32 volts and less than an amp of current. You might feel a tingle, but I doubt that.

I hope the one from ebay works fine.
