I'm running a Win2K3 SP2 server and I can't seem to get rid of this rootkit. ComboFix gives me that bogus "OS incompatible" message and doesn't run. SDFix won't run. MGTools runs but many of its tools seem to fail. MBAM finds it but can't remove it on reboot.

Here's my HJT and mbam log:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2
Scan saved at 15:27:06, on 11/11/2008
    Platform: Windows 2003 SP2 (WinNT 5.02.3790)
    MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16735)
    Boot mode: Normal

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

As some malware can hide themselfs from a normally named Hijackthis exe and as we have some other tools and logs to capture data on the possible type of malware on your PC, the guide below will help, if some of the tools wont work do mention if you get errors and what they where, also attach the MGTools.zip ene if all the tools dont seem to work.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
