i have windows xp pro sp2.

i have tried to remove a "Crunk Juice\Choppin.mp$" with AVG anti rootkit 3 times now. Everytime i reboot and recheck, it's there again, renaming itself to something similar but basically the same thing.

What do i do? i can't get rid of this thing.

i use Creative MediaSource Organizer software since i have a Creative Zen mp3 player.

i'm getting a little freaked out.

also- on another thread, i've tried resetting the NoSaveSetting registry entry to 0 and my icons are still moving by themselves on the desktop. I've waited to see if anyone else will give me some advice, but there's been nothing else since my last entry.

Please help me out of rootkit hell.

I'm not sure whether you are having malware problems or not. I also don't think that file you mentioned is a rootkit. It may be a hidden file, but I don't think it is a rootkit infection.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
      • Also attach a current log from AVG Antirootkit so I can see exactly what it is saying
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

Thank you both- it turned out not to be a rootkit but a corrupt file that was locked. I downloaded "Unlocker" and now the file is gone.

I have SOOOO much to learn. i have not gone thru the Malicious Software Removal steps because i have a clean system right now. but i still can't figure out alot of things..... like why a whole panel appeared on my desktop after i did a regular "error check" on my computer. And lots of other annoying things.

I wish i had my own personal computer mentor.... :p

I don't now what you mean but it does not sound like it is a question for the Malware Forum. If you have an issue post a more detail explanation on what you are talking about in the Software Forum.
