    Hi all,

I've looked around but can't find out why I wouldn't be able to respond to posts in Malware when I can respond in the Software forum.

    Thanks!

The Malware Forum is special in that you have to be an authorized user to post into this forum!

Only users with a proven track record showing significant Windows experience and the ability to deal with users of all types of backgrounds are even considered to be allowed permission to post in the Malware Forum. And then you also have to show that you have the knowledge to be Malware Fighter. This requires quite a bit of background in not just Windows but also with many special tools and procedures requires to remove malware.

The reason we changed the policy (quite a long time ago now) of anyone replying to malware questions was that it became a mess/confusing when multiple users posted their advice and a fair amount of it was wrong and could have made matters worse. This is why as you will agree its best to have continuity in helping someone remove malware from their PC.

In addition, many new users would reply to another's thread with things like I have the same problem, but... which leads to confusion in that thread.

We also have a set required procedures for removing spyware that most users need to run. They are posted in this sticky READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support). After running that procedure, manual removal steps will be given on an individual user problem basis.

Ah! Thank you for that. I was intending to respond to someone asking if the scanner they were using could be trusted but never mind; I'm sure someone will get to that soon.

Just wasn't sure if something was wrong with my system - the registry has been getting itself in knots lately so I wasn't sure if that was the problem.

    Thanks again.
