    Hey MG,

I wish I could run and post the READ ME FIRST stuff, but I have a computer that I am not even sure what happened. Vista will not boot. Last known good configuration just goes to system repair which fails. Chkdsk goes through and gives me index errors, but it only goes to 44% then restarts back to system repair. I tried to run Malwarebytes from DOS but got a memory dump. I tried to restore, but it says their are no restore points. Speaking with someone in IT, they said the no restore point sounds like Malware. But, I have no where to start because nothing runs. What says the geeks?

    In His, Dale

P.S. It is a Gateway laptop, running Vista Home Premium 64bit

Thank you for the lead. I am going to try the Kaspersky Disc and see what I get. I will keep you posted.

    Vista and Win7 Recovery disc

    For fixing the boot issues:
To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Put the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    4. Click Repair your computer.
    5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
    7. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

If necc. you can do this:

    Bootrec.exe /fixmbr

But I am also going to suggest you post in the software forum to try to get you back up and running. Then you can return to this thread for any malware issues you have.

Okay ran Kaspersky Recovery Disc. It did find Trojan.Win32.Fraudrop. Also, java agent.

Made the NeoSmart Vista recovery disc. Ran the bootmgr /fixmbr. Said completed successfully. However, when I type in scanos it says 0 Windows applications.

I have also posted in Software Support as you suggested.
