Hey, hopefully some can help, this problem just started today. When I see a pic online and I want to save it onto my desktop, (which ive always been able to do before) it wont.

Example: If I go to any pic online, and right click on it and hit "save as" it gives me 2 options: .art and a .bmp file.....no .jpeg???? And its a.jpeg pic

when i do save it as either file it doesnt open on my computer and i get the error message "paint can not read this file, this is not a valid file or its format is not supported"

what happened and how can i chage this?

    thanks

    update:
When I right-click pics to be saved on my harddrive they still ask if I want it saved as a .ART file or a .BMP file, but now they show up as a .JPEG icon but when i try to open it, it says "PREVIEW NOT AVAILABLE" and there is no pic

Im hoping somone here can help me

I am also getting a weird error message it says

    "WJView Error
ERROR: unable to locate system class: java/lang/Object"

is that connected to why i cant save a .jpeg file onto my hard drive? The funny thing is that i can go into my trash bin and take a old .jpeg pic out of there and move it to my desktop and right click on it and save it as a jpeg and it works, but I cant save a new pic as a .jpeg

Im using windows XP if that matters

are you on AOL ,found this info

    1. Once at the 'AOL Sign On Screen' click 'members' from the 'AOL Menu Bar'.
    2. Select 'Preferences'.
    3. Click 'WWW'.
    4. Choose the 'Web Graphics tab'.
    5. Uncheck the box for 'Use Compressed Graphics'.

I had the exact same problem. The previous post was the answer. However, if you are not on AOL, but are on dial-up; it is my understanding that "highspeed dial-up" is simply image compression. I have an old post with several responses and my "backdoor" method. Check it out if you have additional questions. It is here in "software" and it is titled : Problems saving wallpaper.

Hope this helps. That was my very first post and now it has come full circle. :) :) :)
