Cant see wireless router in list

I use cable internet and a US Robotics USR5461 Router and a HP DV5000 and XP

It's been working fine for months but yesterday I was playing a game and hit the start a server option by accident, the game hung (operation flashpoint), the PC crashed needing a battery pull to re-boot.

Since then I've lost wireless. In my list of available networks I can see my neighbors router but not mine. It is connecting to nieghbor router (but the signal is very low).

I can plug a ethernet cable direct into the cable modem and internet works.

I can plug an ethernet cable into the router and it works

My other laptop is connecting to the router without a problem.

This adds up to a big WTF to me. Can anyone possibly suggest what the problem is?

Don't know what was up but was trying a few things and turned on the SSID broadcast, got the signal in the list again the i turned off SSID and all is good again. For now at least.
