I keep getting a message from my anti virus/ malware program that it keeps blocking this 'slammer' , but every time I run a scan none of my programs seem to remove it.

Im not sure what to do about it.

I know that I do have some bad files associated with this like BCTOOL.EXE

Ive run that program from the above link, it says my system is not vulnerable.

The patch though says its only for the following:

    Microsoft SQL Server 7.0

    • Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) 1.0

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2000

    • Microsoft Desktop Engine (MSDE) 2000 (see the FAQ for a list of products that include MSDE 2000)

Is it ok for me to put it onto my windows XP?

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
    .

I've run through the readME link and all I picked up and cleared were a few cookies.

I couldn't run Microsoft Windows Defender 1051 (Beta 2), the program always froze

I tried to run BitDefender but it wouldn't run on my computer. I'm not sure if I should try and run Panda Scan since I can't do BitDefender first.

but I have attached a HiJack This log to this message.

    Hope this helps

Did you then try to run CounterSpy per the instructions in the READ ME?

What happens when you try to run Bitdefender? You must use IE? Update your Sun Java to the current version. Sometimes this helps.

Yes run Panda and attach the log.

I see no malware in your HJT log.

My computer isn't allowing me to download the ActiveX I need to run pandascan ...

But Ive run my anti-virus/malware program and found something called Troj_Anicmoo.Ad

    It was quarantined.

I'll get right to trying counterspy now :) thanks

I'll look into Counterspy, and try to get pandascan working too, just in case; But I just think that maybe there is something wrong with my anti-virus maybe... hmmm

Thank you for all your help and patience :)
