Lev is right. You need to get back to the doctor and tell him/her what is going on.
Obviously you know something isn't right.

You need to talk to someone. Friends, family, maybe someone anonymous. My address is on my profile. Please feel free to write.

Tried to email myself, but said I couldn't

Yeah, man...I can speak from experience!!!! you need to go back to your doctor and talk to somebody!!!!

I was actually in the hospital for a week due to depression and a small bought of experimenting with razor blades and pills!! Needless to say, I've got a pretty good idea what you are going through, and I just wanted to make sure that you understand that there is nothing to be ashamed of as far as seeking the necessary help and speaking out about how you feel, along with medication..and/or adjusting current medications that might be causing these side effects!!!! Depression is some serious stuff, and it doesn't always go away on it's own!!

For what it is worth...if you are interested...here are a couple of things that helped me when I just couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel!!

    1) Always stay around friends/family and others who are good about keeping the surrounding atmosphere upbeat!!

    2) Exercise...even if it is just something like taking the dog out for a walk around the block!!

    3) Don't drink...especially when your in one of your slumps!!

    4) Keep a journal, religiously!!

I don't want you to feel pushed, but obviously there are lots of us who are concerned for your well being, and are willing to talk and or listen with you!! If you want to chat with me...PLEASE feel free to pm me...I'm there if you want to talk!!!! However...I also know what it is like for everybody to hound you and you feel like you're being pulled in all different direstions!! So that being said...I'm not going to bother you about it anymore...just understand that my offer to chat always stands!!!!

    Take care!!

    Roger

Hey, why don't you round up goldy, hugga and, of course, yourself and we'll line up a little over-the-pond call at a time convenient to all? ;)

And if you want to really burn up the line, include mispon in on the deal :D

McA....so proud you got yourself up and went to the docs. Sometimes that is the hardest thing to do when you feel so low and it takes every little bit of strength you have. Good job!

The meds could take a couple of weeks to fully kick in - I'm sure the doc explained that to you, so hang in there while they do their stuff, and again, mail me if it gets on top of you.

@Star...hey...I got international cheap rate dialing too ;) Abby and I could chat for hours....hehehe.

Depression sucks.... your parents are 90% of the reason, which i found from a pamphlet in the doctors office.

I'm sorry but I have to sooooo disagree with this statement, wherever it was printed, and I'm quite horrified to hear a doctor's office is "marketing" such a claim.

Depression does suck, big time, I agree. But it is an extremely complex disease, triggered by many different aspects and situations, and often more than one in each case. As a child, youth or adolescent, yes...parents can have a huge effect on mental mood or disposition. But this is a normal result of a parent influencing the often erratic nature and developing behaviour of this age group. Teenagers test parents...parents try and pass the tes, but often fail, resulting in mental anguish on the teenagers part. If this is ongoing then depression can set it, but more often than not, other factors are going on to. Unless the depression is genetic, parents can't be simply "blamed" for the depression. Even if you are an adult, the same can be applied. Different generations do things diferently, often causing mental friction, and induced over a long period can cause stress and finally depression.

The website posted is a marketing ploy to get you to take their drug for depression once approved by a doctor. This does not mean it is the best drug for your type of depression. there are many different Tri's, SSRI's and MAOI's....each one having a slightly different approach. this is something that needs to be chosen by a doctor, not someoone who is not clearly thinking with symptoms of depression.

@sleepygamer....this is just a cautionary note on what you read, not a personal thing :)

Lev, I think he's referring to genetics. Unless it's diagnosed as a neuropsychiatric disorder, it's probably going to be inherited.

I hope so..it wasn't clear...which is why I made mention to that too :) It just sounded so drastic "blame the parents" :)

I had a bout with anxiety several years ago; thank God my doctor was not the type to put someone on medication just for the convenience of it. He helped me realize what it was, gave me an EEG just to prove I was imagining the whole thing, and sent me on my way.

and publius:- i seriously mean this. ESPECIALLY ENGLISH people. not that i mind having american visiters, just that the british are generally in greater need. lol.

anyone who can get the air fare together, which is not an easy thing (especially for the british), is almost entitled to a free holiday. so start saving. :)

HUH..... I know the UK does have some issues with being behind the rest of the western world in the likes of highspeed internet etc BUT we lost our 3rd world country status many centuries ago!

God only knows in what way US TV portrays the UK as, after the quote above..... guess thats why many Americans come to visit this quaint backwards country and to give us some charity handouts....

The way Australia's heading, they say it won't be long before we become a third word country.

Hope you are feeling better McA.

Unfortunately, I am no stranger to anxieties and depression either (I'm not talking minor stuff here). My meds give me a few hours sleep anyway.
