I have a few creative music player programs on my xp based pc which I no longer use as I dont have the creative mp3 players any more but i cannot unistall the programs. Programs are "jukebox driver, mediasource, removable disk manager, system info, zen micro and zen touch" When i try to unistall through control panel, remove programs, i get a message saying "could not open INSTALL.LOG file" When I then hit "ok", nothing happens. Any idea how I can get rid of these programs without the install.log file, or where I can get a creative install.log file? i also get "setup.exe has encountered a problem" message or "an installation support file could not be installed. the system cannot find the file specified" message, depending on which creative program i try to uninstall.

    Thanks in advance

Back up any important documents before doing this. The likelyhood of breaking the computer is small, but when the add/remove programs option doesn't work then you don't have much choice. If you know how to back up your registry, you can do that too (though ccleaner later will ask you if you wish to do so)

    Download and install this: http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_With_Yahoo_Toolbar_d5125.html

It has something like add/remove programs under tools I believe (I don't actually have it in front of me). Try that and see if it works.

If not, go into program files and delete the folders associated with those programs. Delete the shortcuts off the desktop and out of the start menu. After doing that, run CCleaner's file cleaner, and then its registry cleaner. Run the registry cleaner multiple times until it cleans 0 files.

That is how I uninstall troublesome files.
