I installed on IE & beta 2 and have been unable to unstall. I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 9300 with Windows Media 2005. Internet explorer is not functioning correctly since the install.

I can find Internet Explorer 7 Beta Preview 2 in the Control Panel-Add/Remove programs. When I try to uninstall I get the following error message:

    Error loading C:\Windows\systen32\msfeeds.dll
The specified module could not be found.

The process continues, but when it gets to updating registry, the program gets hung up.

The CPU hits 100% even if I have every other program closed.

Task manager indicates the the uninstall is running (as opposed to not responding).

Under processes tab it indicates that spuninst.exe is using 99 to 100%.

Program won't uninstall and problems remain.

In About Internet explorer it indicates that I am running Version 7 Beta 2. However, since the uninstall attempts internet explorer reverted back to the old Version 6 look. It no longer looks like the new 7 beta, even though the it indicates in the about info that it is.

I am unable to use system restore to return to a previous setting.

Please help, my machine is really messed up with this update.

Again, the uninstall file may be damaged / corrupt in some way.
Looks like the registry may need to be modifed manually to get rid of the problems. Thats fairly advanced business, so you could try uninstalling all traces of internet explorer and use firefox instead, or, if you are really that desperate, then download reinstall the latest full non beta version of IE. The BETAness may have something to do with the problems you are experiancing. Ie beta means a "test" version which may still have many signifaicant bugs in it, causing these problems, then again I could be wrong and it could be a more fundamental, serious problem causing this.

What other problems are you experiencing?

Thanks for the response. I can't reinstall IE7, because it can't be installed over itself. I can't install IE 6, because of IE 7. Problems include:

    link in IE don't work
Start menu functions-search and system restore-get no response when clicked.

Norton System works/anti virus won't open up-the frame of the window is there but it's see through.

    MSN Messenger wont work
    MSN explorer wont work.

I am desperate to get this removed from my machine. I do not want to re-format the entire drive and start over. Any other ideas?

The uninstall process gets hung up at uninstalling system registry. CPU hits 100% and hangs.

No gaurantees. But, IEFIX may work.

    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm

It worked for me (with a few minor errors). Due to the stupidity that I ran CCLEANER with the option to remove all HOTFIX uninstallers. Which removed the IE7 uninstaller.

But at least IE works. Not that I use IE, since I use IEtab with firefox.

Thanks for the suggestion. It mostly worked. All of my problems are resolved, except that I still can't uninstall IE 7 Beta. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about this or not.
