Can't uninstall/reinstall driver for Realtek Sound card

I uninstalled my sound devices in device manager trying to fix the no sound problem. (btw, which I later discovered was due to the speakers being unplugged!)

I am using windows xp professional sp3. I have the driver (realtek), it is on the motherboard disk but fails to install. After 3 solid days of frustration, I surrender!

Thanks for your help! My husband would be thrilled if I could fix this "on my own" ;) without hauling it in to be repaired!

    You can follow this

maybe is the OEM board but to ensure this you can download

The report is attached but I haven't got the hardware id's yet. Couldn't copy/paste and pretty sure I would mess up the code if I tried to do it "manually". Any tips for that?

I can't run Driver Fusion: "To run this application you must install one of the following versions of the NET Framework V4.030319.

    What now?

Now I get an error when downloading the driver:
    Error code: 0xE0000227.

I ran Driver Fusion (and restarted) again to make sure it was gone but it still showed "audio device on high definition audio bus". Did I run Driver Fusion right.....just picked out "real tek" to delete? (Cannot see the video clear enough to follow it.)

You have to look at the video and remove anything about sound/realtek/audio :wave

Trying not to rant but it's not easy! Okay, I figured out driver fusion, ran it and it says that it can't remove all the files unless I buy the premium version. Since it was only $17 I figured "what the heck, I've come this far"! So I pay my $17 and now it's won't activate my account. Messed with it for an hour, no technical support.

So, I'm stuck again...... What can you do?

I finally got driver fusion to work and have run it to the best of my ability. I am still getting the message "install audio driver failure, error code OxE0000227".

    Any other ideas?

You have to do this :
    go to

    Device Manager - Device Drivers
    Disable microsoft UAA bus driver
    Uninstall UAA bus driver

Install realtek driver again maybe it solves your problem :wave

In device manager, under Sound, video and game controllers; It shows me "audio device on high definition audio bus". That is the only one that says anything like that. I have tried many times to disable and uninstall and it always tells me "Failed to uninstall. This device may be necessary to boot up computer."

    Hi

Is your PC one from DELL, HP, ACER, SONY etc? and if so what is the make and model number/version, should be a sticker on the PC to state this?

I'm thinking a chipset reinstall then an audio driver install can fix this, weird issue could be that a registry hack is needed to re-install the HD Audio bus that Windows XP SP3 adds, but that is an outside option, if you give me the above info I should be able to help.

Oooo, I got the Grand PooBah!!

My son stopped in the other day and plugged into another sound card and......it works!

Thanks so much for your time, patience and expertise on this matter. Sorry, I am so inept at these kind of things that I didn't know better. I had no idea I even had another sound card!!

I have nothing but praise for you guys and will advise others to seek your help in such matters.

    Thanks again.
