yeah well not much info to go on, to get effective assistance its always best to give detail otherwise your question will get looked over.

What Windows Version and are you logged in as admin?

What version of Visual Studio?

Do you get any error messages when uninstalling ( full error message verbatim )?

Did you uninstall .NET before running the uninstaller for VS? if so re-install .NET as its a needed component for uninstalling many of the newer versions of VS, then if VS uninstalls you can then uninstall .NET

im in vista as admin
i have visual studio 2005 express edition

the windows installer package:
c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\microsoft visual c# 2005
express edition-enu\vs_setup.msi
could not be opened.
choose retry to try again. choose cancel for exit setup
i didnt unistall .net
