Cant update bios on my hp753n

I have the one with mb fic vh31....
I downloaded the bios from hp...
Went through the process and it hung for 2 hours...
I shut it down...Lucky me it didnt crash...but i still want to upgrade from bios 3.16 to the new 3.17 any help here

 

As a general rule, if your system drivers are up to date, and the computer is stable, especially if only a small Bios update, like this -I would say DONT.It can be the easiest way to mess your computer up.
If you are determined to do it, make sure that you read any information from HP on the method- read, re-read, print out the instructions, so that you can read them when you update the Bios, in case there are no instructions on screen.It is normally straightforward.I suggest you download the file again, and format the floppy by right clicking the a: drive with the floppy in before extracting the BIOS update to the floppy- also shut down your antivirus before extracting the file.

 

It bugs me that im not up to date..plus the new bios patches some issues with usb and
1. Fixed to show Celeron 2.0AG L2 cache information correctly.
2. Added "Turbo Mode" to option menu.
3. Support serveral FWH type.
4. FIxed problem of system failure when FDD set as "none" to install Intel Patch file.

Anyways i need it....I also found out to update my bios i have to diable guardian in bios settings....
Its not there..ive downloaded my manual from the Fic website and its there in the advance settings....
But thats not what my advance settings show ..I have no Virus guardian and other settings that i see on the Fic manual.....

What do you think i should do about that...I have the FIC VG31 TANGO board installed ..Not the msi pictured on hp web....
