    I bought my Flip Ultra Video Camera - White, 1 GB, 30 Minutes (1st Generation) in May 2009.

    When I plug it in, it says a software update is available, but when I try to update it, it only gets about 1/4 updated and does not update any further. I just left it updating overnight and it still did not update. The error message I received is:

    ========================

    Software Updater: An unexpected error occurred. If this occurs again, please contact technical support.

    Debug Info: Error copying file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Flip Video\FlipShare\Upgrade\FlipShare.msi'.

    What does the above mean and how can I update my Flip? Recently, I'm also having problems transfering videos to my computer (never had a problem before they announce that CINCO would not support the Flip).

    When plug my flip into my computer, it takes about 30 minutes for all the videos to appear in the FlipShare windo and then, when I try to save them to my computer hard drive, the program seems to freeze or at least not progress pasy about 1/8 finihsed.

    I found he following at
    http://www.stripersonline.com/forum...ded-fix-the-problem-and-get-a-nip-rm-smith/60

    I located the entire msi file used by flipshare 5.6.35.

    It's in the folder:
    C:\\Program files\\flip video\\flipshare\\upgrade

    You will find the file "flipshare.msi" (55,615 KB) in this folder.

    Make a folder on your c drive called flipshare.

    Copy the flipshare.msi from the program files directory into the flipshare folder.

    Go to Start > Run
    Type; cmd
    Press [ok]

    At the command prompt type;
    msiexec.exe /package c:\\flipshare\\flipshare.msi /l* c:\\flipshare\\flipshare.log
    press [enter]

    This will run the flipshare install and create a log file called flipshare.log.

    Then you can open the log file and find out what part of the install is crashing.

    Hi

    Are you by any chance using Windows Vista or Windows 7? (I'm guessing by the text in your above posts that you are using Windows Vista/7 and x64 version) plus by the debug info you posted it would seem a permissions issue from the update and the Windows folder it is trying to install in (also could be a security application you have installed and running blocking it also).

    So what I would try with the update is to run the Setup_flipshare.exe install as an admin to do this right click the setup file and choose Run as Administrator, you may also need to disable your antivirus software (also Spybot S&D if installed).

    Make sure that you are installing the latest Flip update and they are HERE and also make sure your Windows is fully up to date also.
