    Hi,

I played an interactive Flash football (soccer) game online recently. You score or miss the goal and a supporter responds accordingly in a swf (i think) move clip. It works fine and I wanted to save it to play offline. I can play the game offline if I launch the url page from IE - which is obviously pulling all the info it needs to display the flash and shockwave images from the temp internet files cache.

However when I save the game on my hard drive (with all files that related to the url and game I found in the temp internet files) and try to play it that way offline (i.e. not from temp internet files) I can only play the Flash game but the swf movie clips don't load! There is no point playing the game from Temp internet files as they will be emptied out sooner or later. I can play the swf movie clips offline ok from outside of the game (I downloaded an FLV player and located the files and saved them from temp internet files).

I tried to download the whole page via "save as" in I.E. to save the game and even downloaded mozilla firefox and same problem - I can't run the game with swf movie clips offline unless I open the url from the temp internet files. The crazy thing is I know the whole game works offline cos I have played it from the temp internet files url and everything is working - until I save it eleswhere on my hard drive. Maybe I need to alter the source code to look for the swf on my hard drive rather than online? Not sure and have played around with code in Dreamweaver without success - I am not knowledgeable enough to work out what the problem is. (BTW I have enabled active X and have shockwave and flash installed).

I'm hoping somone can give me either a solution or an answer to this as it have spent hours trying to figure it out and I really wanna know why I can't solve this! It's great to have all the movie clips saved on my PC to run offline, and the Flash game to play offline, BUT I want to save these on my PC and be able to run them together inthe game as they played online (or from the temp internet files).

It is possible that the flash movies are streamed from a server located elsewhere, similiar to the Google or Youtube players, and there may be no way to access those files from the game offline.

Everyone is a volunteer answering questions on their own time. If you are willing to be patient, someone may actually know a way to do what you want.
