I have a photo cd of my summer vacation that was given to me as a gift. It doesn't play on my computer. I'd like to make sure that it is the cd at fault and not the computer but I don't know if my computer isn't picking it up or not.

I have home XP with Windows media player. I have a cd rom burner but not a dvd burner which I don't think would matter in playing the cd.

If it's the cd, then I can ask for another copy.

When I click on the d drive, it shows nothing in the drive.

The disk is a Maxwell DVD-R.

Check if your CD burner is capable of reading DVD's. If it is it should have a DVD logo on the front. If it doesn't have a logo then ask your friend to burn the new copy on a CD-R.
