I got some cheap walmart speakers... I recently bought a pioneer stereo (45x4w) My current speakers cant really handle it. I got some home stereo speakers, a few people told me they would work and others say no. If any one knows from experience if it will work or knows a link to a site with more info on this let me know thanx.......the speakers are from a 3 disc shelf system...Im not sure how much they can handle.....

Those home speakers probably won't give you any more performance than your stock auto speakers. Save up and get a decent set of aftermarket speakers.

would the home speakers bust right off the bat?

They'd work no doubt, but why would there be speakers designed for homes and speakers designed for cars?

Think about the environment that they're for, home speakers are funnily enough for home, car speakers are funnily enough for a car.
Home speakers are designed for the projection so that the sound is spread out whereas car speakers will keep the sound enclosed within the car, so as JP said, you wouldn't get much out of the home speakers.

They will work, but not properly as car stereo speakers are a different impedance that home stereo speakers. They'll sound awfull and look ghetto.

I was just at Wal Mart this morning (don't tell anyone), and they had a decent looking set of two-way Pioneer 5.25"s for like thirty bucks. I'll probably get them for my Jeep since I blew my Infinities. They'll be good enough till I can get something better.

Ever get a CD that is so freaking good, that you purposely blow your speakers with it?:)

They're most likely low wattage speakers, which I assume is the problem with your stock speakers. They'll work until you toast them.

The way I understand it, a home stereo will fry car stereo speakers, due to the home stereo being 8 ohms (unless you can switch between 4 and 8 ohm), and the car speakers being 4 ohm, but that a car stereo is unlikely to fry home stereo speakers, although as mentioned before, it sounds like crap.

4 ohm speakers on an 8 ohm amplifier will cause the amp to work harder and vice versa. It will result in an effective increase in amplifier output but also a lot of heat. It's a good way to burn out an amplifier circuit, especially with insufficient cooling capacity. Car amps tend to have larger heatsinks than home units, so they tolerate being overdriven better. The speakers would only be damaged by the amplifier if they were driven well beyond their power rating. As for the sound quality of home speakers on a car stereo, it is far more dependent on the speakers than the head unit.
