card reader quit

Hello everyone, need some help again, I'm working with......
hp panilion slimline s3100n pc
vista
amd setup
1024 ram working at 864 mb
250 gb hd
built in card reader
the card reader quit working and the system sees it as unrecognized tried windows update but no luck where should i start?any help would be appreciated, thanks
oh im working on this for friend he dont have any discs......

 

Have you tried the HP website? There's no specific driver for the card reader, but at the bottom of this page; http://snipurl.com/hpdriverlist there is a software update/install package for HP Update. It's not the most efficient update service, but hopefully it might be able to find the driver for you and update it.

If this doesnt work, you may have to manually search for the driver. Let me know how you get on.

 

Thanks for the reply though it didnt help and HP dont list the built in card reader for driver option.... I wrote hp to see if that will help me get what I need. Thanks again let you know what I find out....

 

Can you go into Device Manager and find out the details of the card reader? (ie Manufacturer and part number) It's probably not manufactured by HP, so the drivers may be available elsewhere.

 

it has an hp sticker with their bar code on it but that dont mean much these days plus my neighbor said dont worry about it for now he wanted it back for now until I find out what to do.. Thanks for the help you tried to do, I read more into the reader on the net and found out that they like to quit working anyway on the slimline computers so he could be having that kind of problem too... Thanks again though......
