    1. Put computer in a room with a door.

    2. Keep door closed and cat on the outside of door.

Anything else is likely to be an exercise in frustration.

comperroruter, what is your cat doing to your computer? Sophie, our little girl cat likes to chase the mouse pointer which is mostly funny, but she's hard to see the monitor through.

The only real problem I have is that they walk all over the keyboard when I am away. They leave hair everywhere. Would put it in another room, but we do not like to restrict their movement throughout the apartment. (Except of course, on the computer table.) Those air things are too expensive. I tried double sided tape, and it worked at irritating them, but it also irritated me. I have tried lemon juice, lemon pledge (one of them actually enjoys licking that so we had to stop using it), orange peels, soap, and a lot of other things. Seems double sided tape would work. The air can might work for one or two of them, but the deaf one would never get the point. Besides, the two kittens would knock 'em down at some point. I can see my desk covered with them so that there was no avenue of approach..for me or the cats.:D
I guess they will continue to rule the roost for now. I am thinking of calling a pet psychic and have them tell them to stay the #$%^& off my computer desk.:)

sounds like you need to teach it to play!! then you could buy the cat a little hello kitty pc and you and the cat could play together! :D:p

Not all cats, depends on the breed, and also how they are brought up.

Get a cat used to water at an early age and it will love it.

Having said that, and each to their own, I fail to see the attraction of cats.

Especially when so-called animal loving responsible owners let them loose on the local wildlife (bells on collars don't fix the problem).

To protect your keyboard while away just build some kind of box to cover it with and then put the double sided tape all over the cover :D

That is actually a pretty good idea. I have some spare cases laying around and I could make a decent cover for it that slides around. :)

Forgive me cat hair is the problem  ,comb the cats  ,unless the cats sit and groom ontop of the keyoard I'm suprised they leave any hair at all, even then they swollow most of it and cough it up as hairballs

If your cats for the brief moment they are on thr keyboard shed enough hair for it to be a problem take them to the vet :D :p

Ooops, this seems like an old thread bumped by mistake...

But I have the perfect solution!

    http://members.chello.se/solange/images/photos/Puter.jpg

I've made her a bed on the scanner, and she lies there so patiently. This is an old photo, desk and monitor are new, but the principle is the same! :D Keeps her near and happy, and she doesn't get in front of the monitor... -too often, although I nearly got killed in GW today because of her not getting to her "bed" fast enough...

When she lays there snoring, I think she is waiting for her catscan... http://members.chello.se/solange/smileys/Rotfl.gif

I pretty much just push my 3 bundles of furry stupidity off onto the floor when they get up on the computer desk. They get the hint after a while. And I do it the second they jump up. No petting them, no talking to them, just bam, to the floor. After a couple of ungraceful landings, they learn not to get up there and stay down. Or at least not to do it while I am around :)
