    hi there,
i just thought i warn you about spybot search and destroy
after downloading to get rid off any annoying spyware yesterday i noticed two things.
    (1) It sent out a false postive on my scanner saying that my windows security is a adware.
    (2) that a dll was missing and will need to rebooted
However with both the issues it worked ok
and finally the tea time was using up all cpu grrr
which i managed to eradicate after reinstalling with it switched off

Welcome Center is for saying HI, please use appropriate forum for posting questions or statments.

AS for Spybot, nothing new in virtually all security applications at sometime poping up the odd false positive, I just had one earlier when using XofSpy, it said my winload.exe file was a keylogger, while yes its name is associated with PCtattletale malware, mine is the Vista bootloader and is legit.

Bad thing is if your not a cluey user then you may delete these legit files if you dont research their legitimacy before deleting.

In majority of cases the next malware dat update covers fixing these.

Teatimer is well known for doing that, many I know have it turned off, but as its a resident scan, if you have multiple resident malware scanners running then this may happen, same as Firewalls and Antivirus you should only run one resident malware scanner, you can have multiple on-demand scanners and those cause no CPU % issues.

Sadly, false positives are a fact of life with security apps... different vendors have different criteria consituting the "malware" label. Many spyware apps will flag cookies to appear as an effective product.

As for tea timer, if you read the how to protect yourself from malware thread, you'll see that the experts here at MG do not recommend using it.

Tea Timer is not something I would run, it sadly, has been buggy since day one with some pretty serious issues. Frankly, if your careful, you need a good firewall and anti-virus, you might try AVG Anti-spyware, I have had no issues with it:

    hi :wave
    whoops sorry guys.
iv managed to sort the out the elusive dill problem after reading the meny threads
and the only one that works for me is when you copy it to spybot folder rolleyes
as for the false postives as you said they are javascripts here to the end of time :D and the only way to set the clock back is to do a system restore. :cry
