Many of you out there use Pinform Ccleaner. I use it regularly but always wonder if there are some of the boxes particularly in the Cleaner and Registry section that you should avoid checking off because of potential problems or is it best to check them all off. Any other suggestions regarding Ccleaner would be appreciated.

    Thanks Much,

For the cleaner, I usually just run the defaults. This by itself does a great job. I've also checked them all with no problems. Normally you don't want to clear your prefetch files, though it doesn't hurt. But if you check "wipe free space", it could take hours to run, or so I'm told. I've never needed it myself.

For the registry, I leave them all checked.

same here, for the registry, i leave the defaults checked. I've never run into any problems on any windows os.

as for the cleaning, I frequently add cookies that I don't want deleted (like mg's of course) just cause I'm lazy and don't want to have to type in my password.

I agree, stay away from the "wipe free space" That will take a very long time to run. Otherwise, I'd go with the defaults.

I had an issue with the cleaner. It wiped my .dmp files and some other logs I needed. I am having issues and was told by a few here they would be useful. I could not figure out where the heck they were going. I somehow had cleaner set up to delete them. Well, a lesson I will remember :)

Yes, it will clear those, but you can uncheck that option. Also, if you are having problems, they will create new ones. :wave

I usually run Ccleaner with all the boxes checked but also for added security I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. On Mozilla click on tools, drop down to Better Privacy, click options and help, check Add LSO item to Firefox 'Clear History' and whatever else you desire on that tab. Great for deleting Super Cookies that stay stored that other programs would overlook. Great feature not found on other browsers.
