CCleaner question..program in start-up

I went to the Start-up part of CCleaner to maybe stop some programs from starting up (takes awhile for computer to start everything) and I found this :
"C:\Windows\system32\ctfmon.exe" I did a google on it and as I understand its a program for Office XP. Do I really need this in my start-up? I also found that some sites were saying this is used as spyware. Thanks for your help in advance.

 

If it is in system32, it should be the Windows ctfmon. It does have to do with Windows Office and Word programs. And there is a fix somewhere around here to keep it out of your start-up. (not sure where though)

 

Any file could be "used" to attach malware, but in your case this file is in the correct folder and is not malware. You don't HAVE to have it at start up, but everytime you open an office application it is going to remain running in the background, even when you close that Office app. For the small amount of memory it uses, I would leave it personally.

Also I would use a manager like StartupCPL to select processes to not run at start up, rather than CCleaner, as there is no back up with the latter.

All you really need to do is:
Open up Microsoft Word
Select Tools
Speech
Turn it off there. Sorry mine is turned off at the moment, and I don't remember what you select from there. But once you turn it off there it will no longer be in start up.
