cd drive keep opening and close

    my cd drive keep open and close on its own...and it keep doing that for like hours and stop...few more hour later it does taht again...please help if you know what to do.

    There was some time ago a "joke virus" which would do this so for starters run a virus scan.

    And does it do it in Safe Mode? If it doesn't then I would suspect a program of some shape or description is the culprit.

    it do that in safe mode 2...so i guess its not software problem?

    Well if you ran the virus scan and that came up clean and you also run Ad-Aware and/or Spybot too (You did didn't you. :p ) it might just be the microswitch on the drive door is not registering the door shutting properly so it keeps trying. :rolleyes:
